Assessing the Implementation of Malaria Control Programmes in Rivers State

Background
Despite significant investments in malaria prevention and control, malaria remains a major public health challenge in many parts of Nigeria. While considerable attention is often given to programme outcomes, less attention is paid to how programme priorities are established, how intervention strategies are selected, and how implementation is carried out across different levels of the health system.
Our Focus
This research initiative is examining the implementation of malaria control programmes in Rivers State, with particular attention to programme planning, strategy selection, and implementation fidelity. The study seeks to understand how programme objectives are translated into operational activities and the extent to which planned interventions are implemented as intended across the health system.
Expected Contribution
The findings are expected to generate practical insights that can support programme improvement, strengthen implementation processes, and contribute to more effective malaria control efforts.
